ARGOMENTO: ReDJ 301 redirect function not working

ReDJ 301 redirect function not working 1 Anno, 11 Mesi fa #1028

Hi there, my client just updated their site to Joomla 1.5, and changed the root URL simultaneously. As a result, we've got a bunch of 404 errors generated from the old links on Google:
www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=bainbridge+graduate+institute&aq=0p&aqi=g-p3g7&aql=&oq=bainbridge+&fp=c5aa4278f68e4a4

The old domain name is bgiedu.org, the new one is bgi.edu. I've set up ReDJ on bgi.edu to try to capture bgiedu.org's old links, but I suspect I cannot due to the fact that the domain names are different. Is this true?

Any help would be vastly appreciated, thanks,
Carrie

Hi,
the destination URL can point to any domain, while on the source URL we just take the REQUEST_URI part.

Anyway, for your problem, if you still can control the old domain, you can redirect every call to new domain. There's at least two way to do this.

First one is using Apache rewrite URL. In this way you should be able to redirect any call to the same on new domain.

A simplest way is (if you have Joomla and ReDJ on the OLD domain) to use the new 1.3.2 feature. You can redirect ANY error to a single URL (e.g. the new homepage).

If you need more help, please, don't esitate to ask me.

Regards,
Luigi
