Redirect not working 7 Months, 4 Weeks ago

Trying to set up my first redirect, and I can't figure out why it isn't working. Help?
I have the redirect set up in ReDJ as follows:
From: /compass$
To: http://{siteurl}/Services/email-compass.html
I added "ErrorDocument 404 /" to the .htaccess file
The plugin has been enabled
The redirect is published
I should note that I'm working in a staging environment, not sure if that would have any affect or not.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Luigi,
Thanks for the response. The redirect doesn't work - I get a 404 page.
Site wouldn't be accessible to you as I'm working in a staging environment on our internal servers, that's why I was wondering if being on staging might have anything to do with the fact that the redirect isn't functioning properly (though I doubt it).
Would something like the sh404SEF extension that I have installed interfere with ReDJ links?

No,
ReDJ and sh404SEF can work together without problems.
Could you, please, check if the error 404 is returned by Apache or Joomla?
If is Apache that send the error page, this mean Joomla doesn't receive your call (and ReDJ can't do the work).
If you get the Joomla error page, it means that ReDJ doesn't find any matching URL. In this case, try to use redirect mode in your plugin settings (this is because you are using sf404SEF). If the problem persists, send me a dump of ReDJ table.
Regards,
Luigi
