I followed instructions from this form to allow the Adminsitrative area Keywords field to accept more than 255 characters. However, when I save the entry, the characters revert back to 255.

I see that this is a database setting that is created when the plugin is installed.

Is there any way to change this setting now so that I can use more than 255 characters in the keywords field? The client insists.

Please advise. I do not have access to directly edit the database for this site, and I don't know what to do.

it's possible but you need to execute a SQL query to alter a teble. If you don't have access to the database with a tool (e.g. phpMyAdmin) you could install a Joomla extension to do this. Let me know if this could be a solution and I will send you the SQL string to execute. Otherwise, we will find a different solution...

Also, any recommnedation for plugins to use with 1.5 that allow the mySQL query? I looked in the Joomla extensions but am not sure which to use.

I've spent time looking through all the Joomla extensions I can find for mySQL queries and I'm not finding one that I would like to install. All seem to have bad issues.

Is there another way to achieve what I would like to do?

If I uninstalled Tag Meta, changed the install files to make the characters longer for the keywords fields, and then reinstalled Tag Meta, would that be possible?

if your table prefix is "jos_" the sql query is in the attached file.

To execute this sql statement you can use Art Adminer:

extensions.joomla.org/extensions/hosting-a-servers/database-management/9886

If this is not possible, I could prepare a Tag Meta package for you, but there's no need to uninstall (upgrade mode is supported).

I'm sorry, the extension for the database is not working for me, the autologin is incompatable and I do not have access to the passcode for my database (I have less access on this site than sites I usually work on, it is not within my control).

Is the change that I am looking for possible with an upgrade to Tag Meta that you could prepare for me?

Attached you can find Tag Meta Community 1.3.0 modified for long keywords. Just install over.
